The Dundee Makerspace Bikespace
The Bikespace is an area where members of the public and community can repair their bicycles or other contraptions such as prams or unicycles themselves
Upon Membership to the maker space you will have access to cycle repair tools and other equipment. However, you do not need to be a member to use the Bikespace, open night is on Monday where use of tools is free.
On hand to help you most days will be myself, a mechanic who has several years experience in cycle maintenance both professionally in the cycle industry, and in other community bike spaces across the country, including in Aberdeen and London.
The aims of the bike space are to:
Help improve peoples’ mobility around the local area by fostering access to cycling, which will have a positive knock-on effect on local businesses and other community organisations.
Reduce pollution and congestion from vehicles, and reduce waste through recycling bicycles which would otherwise be thrown away.
Promote healthy lifestyles and exercise through cycling
Promote learning and hands on skills through giving people access to resources and informal training to help them learn to repair things.
Have an old bike you don’t have space for? – Donations of cycles or parts are greatfully received!
